Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
The MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Fall Test is a baseline, adaptive assessment administered early in the academic year. It helps teachers track academic growth, personalize instruction, and predict performance on state and college readiness exams.
What To Know:
(1.) MAP typically tests reading, language usage, mathematics, and sometimes science.
(2.) The test is adaptive, which means, questions get harder if the student answers correctly and easier if they answer incorrectly.
(3.) The assessment is not timed. Each subject typically takes about 40 to 55 minutes to complete.
(4.). Student results are not measured using a traditional grade percentage. The results are measured using a RIT scale (a
continuous scale from roughly 100 to 350), which allows teacher to observe the students continuous learning year over
year.
(5.). It is not recommended that students study for the assessment. The goal is for students to do their best so that teachers get a snapshot of their academic baseline.
If you have additional questions about the MAP Assessment, please feel free to discuss them with your child’s teacher.
